Leslie Denson is a Clinical Laboratory Science major with Piano
and Chemistry minors, and is planning on graduating in 2010.
Her future plans include medical school, with the hopes of
becoming a physician specializing in pediatric oncology or
emergency medicine.
Born in Salt Lake,
Leslie moved to Tucson, Arizona with her family at the age of
two. While in the desert, she discovered the joy of music with
piano lessons at age seven, and again with the violin at age
nine. She moved to Ogden before eighth grade, and thinks the
climate of Utah is more to her liking.
During the course
of her piano studies, Leslie has been a student of Jill Carter,
Dr. June Chow-Tyne, Clair West, Carol Hurst and Dr. Yu-Jane
Yang. As a pianist, Leslie has won two superior ratings in the
piano division of the Arizona Study Program, and a superior
rating at the Utah State Solo and Ensemble competition in the
piano solo division. She was also selected as Bonneville High
School’s Music Sterling Scholar. At Weber State, Leslie has
been the recipient of several piano scholarships, with the most
recent being the Ruth Stevenson memorial scholarship. She
currently serves as a co-vice of the Weber chapter of MTNA, and
as a volunteer musical therapist at McKay-Dee hospital.
When not
practicing or studying, Leslie loves to read and listen to
music. She also enjoys running, kickboxing, and Riverdance. |
