Edward Poston is a 20 year old native of Utah, is the son of
Robert Edward and Anna Velia Poston. Born in Salt Lake City on
October 7, 1998, Edward is the oldest of four and the only boy.
He began studying music at age 5. As a sophomore at Weber State
University, Poston is working to receive his Bachelor of Music
and hopes to someday go to graduate school. He is a former
student of Ralph van Der Beek and presently studies the piano
with Lydia Wu. A 2007 graduate of Clearfield High School,
Edward was involved in orchestra, chamber orchestra, choir and
AP Music Theory as part of his musical studies. He often
conducted these musical ensembles on several occasions. Also in
2007, Edward traveled to New York City and participated in the
New York Music Festival at the College of Staten Island where
his high school orchestra received first place. Edward was also
distinguished as the recipient of the Most Outstanding
Soloist award for his solo role in the orchestra in a
performance of Concerto Grosso no. 1 by Ernest Bloch for
Strings and Piano Obbligato. Among Edward’s most memorable life
moments is the day he played the Mormon Tabernacle Organ in the
Salt Lake Tabernacle at age 15. Someday he hopes to become the
conductor of a major symphony orchestra, teach music at a
University level and have a family of his own. Edward’s hobbies
include rock climbing, watching movies, Facebook, reading the
newspaper, spending time with family and friends. Edward
anticipates serving an LDS mission in the next few months. He
currently lives in Ogden, Utah.
