Weber State Piano Program

     Weber State University is well-known for its emphasis on excellence in teaching, small class sizes and friendly interaction among faculty and students.

     Weber State University’s Department of Performing Arts is large to provide the atmosphere and motivation you need to excel, and personal enough to enable you to stand out as an individual. The Department of Performing Arts is housed in the beautiful Browning Center for the Performing Arts, a state-of- the-art facility.

     The Music are of the Department of Performing Arts is an accredited member of the National Association of the School of Music. The Piano program at WSU has built its reputation both nationally and within Utah in the area of the preparing outstanding piano teacher. The WSU student chapter of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), also known as the “Treble Makers”, holds the national record of being awarded the most number of MTNA National Student Chapter of the Year (1997, 2003, 2005, 2007). Students who graduated from WSU’s Piano Pedagogy Program have also received the highest number of Student Teacher of the Year awards from the Utah Music Teacher Association (in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007).

     Furthermore, piano students at WSU excel in performance, and have been chosen as top prizewinners of the UMTA state concerto competitions, and other regional, national, as well as international piano competitions. Piano students who continued on to graduate school from WSU have been awarded full teaching assistantships from renowned piano performance and piano pedagogy programs throughout the country.
