My Music Philosophy Taking piano lessons develops a student’s musical talent and cultivates a life-long hobby of enjoyment. Students can gain knowledge and coordination while creating beautiful music for self-expression at the same time. I believe that music study should be fun and meaningful!
Student Expectations Students are requested to come to lessons with hands washed, nails trimmed, and hair pulled back. Gum chewing is not permitted at piano lessons. Please be on time to your lesson. Time will not be taken from the lesson of the next student to accommodate late arrivals of the previous student.
Practice Expectations Students are expected to practice 5 days a week. The length of practice will be determined by the students’ level and will be decided at the first lesson. A parent should monitor their child’s practicing and assist the student if needed.
Student Equipment Every student must have a tuned piano. (No half sized keyboards). Also a metronome is required. A recommended piano tuner is Paul Stephens Piano Service (801) 392-3921. Your piano must be tuned no less than twice a year.
Parent Involvement I encourage parents to observe their child’s weekly lesson. This way the parent will know exactly what the student should be practicing the next week.
