Issues Papers: Individual Assignments

Students will be assigned topics individually.

• Student will report orally:

  1. Why did you choose this research topic?
  2. Tips to the reader on conducting research on this topic--suggesting effective search vocabulary, clarifying particular aspects of the subject matter; identifying particular indexes (print and electronic) that contain references to sources pertinent to the topic.
  3. Evaluate the source's authority as well as describe the source's content.

• Students will write short paper (2-3 pages), making reference to relevant outside readings as well as to common readings and materials. Students will use at least two scholarly sources, only one of which may be an internet site.  on what you have learned about your topic. Consider the argument the scholars made and how they supported that argument with evidence. Include a full bibliographic citation (Turabian style) for the articles with which you worked.
