DIVERSITY COURSES Jim Wilson, Chair of the Curriculum and General Education Committee, discusses the diversity course criteria with the Executive Committee. A diversity course must have human diversity/multiculturalism as a major aspect of the class and also must be directly relevant to present day society, as demonstrated by the syllabus and student assignments.
The Curriculum and General Education Committee would not consider, at this time, any variable title course in which there is a high degree of variability in the topics. Variable title courses in which the topics are the same, i.e. Culture Area Studies: of Africa or Latin America or Asia, where the extension does not change the course outline, will be considered.
