MINUTES
Judith Mitchell: Moved to accept the minutes from the October 28, 1999 meeting.

Outcome: The minutes were approved.
CAMPUS SAFETY
Dee Hansen, WSUAS President presented the Student Senate=s concern for safety on campus. He met during the summer with the Student
Body Presidents from the state institutions. They discussed the issue of campus safety, in
particular, guns on campuses and concealed weapons.
The student=s chief justice developed a survey which was sent out through the Internet and the Signpost. Approximately 200 responded to the survey. The majority of respondents indicated that they would not like to ban concealed weapons on campus.
MOTION
Judith Mitchell: Moved to forward the campus safety issue to the Faculty Senate for the
November 18 meeting as an informational item.

CURRICULUM PROPOSALS
Jim Wilson, Chair of the Curriculum and General Education Committee presented the course
and program proposals.
SST Program change from Sales and Service Technology for Sales Merchandising. SST 1890, SST 2383, and SST 2443 were changed from required courses to support courses. The total number of hours for the program remains at 36 credit hours. Students now have 14 credit hours in the required courses (old program had 22 credit hours of required courses), and 22 credit hours in support courses (old program had 14 credit hours from the support courses).

Sales Merchandising and forward it to the Faculty Senate for the November 18, 1999
meeting.

Prengr 2000, Strength of Materials - Prengr 2040, and the new course proposal for Heating,
Ventilating & Air Conditioning - MET 4300.
