2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Motion: Moved to approve the minutes from the November 5, 2009
meeting.

Outcome The minutes were approved.
3. CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW, APPORTIONMENT & ORGANIZATION COMMITTEE – Michelle Heward, Chair
Second Reading - Executive Committee Elections PPM 1-13, Article B-II, Section 7.2
7.2 Prior to the eleventh week of spring semester, the Executive Committee
shall call a general faculty meeting for the purpose of electing members of the
Executive Committee for the following year. The faculty must vote for nine
members; and in the case of a tie for the ninth member, it shall be decided by
the flip of a coin. A secret ballot shall be used. There is no requirement that
every organizational unit be represented on the secret ballot. The highest vote
recipient from each academic college organizational unit
represented on the secret ballot shall serve as an elected member of the
Executive Committee. The next two highest vote recipient(s)
shall also be elected to the Executive Committee. ; however, No
more than two members from the same organizational unit shall serve on the
Executive Committee at the same time; for this purpose, a top-vote recipient
will be eliminated in favor of the next highest vote recipient from another
organizational unit.
Discussion
Motion by the Constitutional Review, Apportionment & Organization Committee.
Outcome: The motion passed with 1 opposed.
4. CURRICULUM COMMITTEE – Erika Daines, Chair

Motion by the Curriculum Committee to approve the gen ed life science course
renewal for Introductory Microbiology - MICR LS 1113.
Outcome: The motion passed unanimously.

Nursing, Computer Science and Military Science as stated above.
Outcome: The motion passed unanimously.
5. OTHER ITEMS
Course Management Systems - Currently Weber State uses Vista/Blackboard. The University is testing other systems for consideration. No training will be provided. If faculty would like to try using another system for their course and give feedback to the Continuing Education Department they can call Luke Fernandez or email him at lfernandez@weber.edu
The Utah Council of Faculty Senate Leaders - The UVU Faculty Senate Chair sent and email to David Ferro acusing one of the Legislators of interfering with the professor’s academic freedom. This particular case dealt with the professor’s views on global warming. Additional information is on the blog. http://blog.weber.edu/users/dferro/blog/
The Utah Council of Faculty Senate Leaders will be meeting in January to discuss budgets and academic freedom.
Graduation Date/Finals Schedule
It was suggested that the University leave the schedule as is for Spring 2010, but add an additional conflict day, and continue to discuss the options for the next academic year.
