Motion: Moved to approve the minutes from the September 17, 2009 meeting.
Made: Warren Hill
Second: Colleen Garside

3.     H1N1 VIRUS

The CDC recommends that if you have flu symptoms you should stay home and not go to the doctor unless you have serious side affects from the flu. Those between the ages of 4-24 are encouraged to get the flu shot. You can go online to see where the shots are available. The shot is free. Faculty need to accommodate students who miss classes because they have the H1N1 virus. Faculty are asked to think about how they can conduct classes if they get the flu or if the need should arise to close the campus.

6.     OTHER ITEMS

To make information readily available to faculty the Faculty Senate Chair has a blog at: http://blog.weber.edu/users/dferro/blog/

Weber State has received a proposal from Ogden City to put a water tank on the hill south of the Weber State "W." Kevin Hansen, Associate Vice President/Facilities & Campus Planning, will meet with the Environmental Issues Committee for further discussion. If you are interested in this issue you can contact Hal Crimmel, Chair of the Environmental Issues Committee. Others who have been involved in this issue are Gene Sessions, Bryan Dorsey, Dan Schroeder, and Sam Zeveloff.

The water tank will be on Weber State property, however, it doesn’t appear that it will be on land that can be developed. Weber State is looking at the land and determining what the impact will be. The city maintains that the bond is the driving force, and, therefore, a four month time line within which construction needs to begin.
