ACADEMIC CALENDAR
Bruce Bowen present an updated
draft of a proposed academic calendar dated 10-1-08.
Elements of the calendar
Three semesters of instruction
Two blocks embedded within each semester
Second fall block utilizes finals week
Second spring block utilized spring break and finals week
Final exams during summer will be on the last day of class or Saturday
Slight variability in teaching minutes depending on semester and block (Fall 2250 minutes, Spring 2100 minutes, Summer 2100 minutes)
14 week summer term
Maintain one-week of spring break
Conclude spring semester one week earlier
Fifteen calendar weeks during fall and spring to facilitate off-campus clinicals
Classes will begin at 7:30 a.m.
Class duration will remain 50 minutes with 10 minute breaks between class
Sample calendars for 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 were reviewed.

Master Planning for the Weber
State University Campus - EDA Architects, Bob Herman and

A brief history of the campus was given. Elements of the campus include:
16,000 students at the Ogden Campus on 500 acres
The campus contains 37 buildings, 2,383,000 square feet of space, 16,000 students, 2,000 faculty and staff, over 600 campus residences, and nearly 7,000 cars.
The campus is barely 50 years old. Over 90% of the building we see today were constructed since 1962.
By 2026, the Utah System of Higher Education projects Weber State’s population of over 27,000 students, faculty and staff.
