COURSE OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this course is to teach students the necessary skills to become confident in the administration of a Network Server and to prepare them to take the current Microsoft Server exam. The objectives of this course are to learn the functionality and purpose of the server in a network environment. We will discuss servers in general but will use the current Microsoft Server software because of its ubiquity in the network structure. Other OSs will be discussed and used in the class.

Students will:

  • Install and configure a network in a virtual environment to include the most current Microsoft Server and a minimum of four clients consisting of various operating systems that would be encountered in the field.
  • Network functionality to include DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and a firewall.
  • Demonstrate various methods of deploying updates to clients across the network
  • Demonstrate remote application services
  • Demonstrate remote server login configuration
  • Deploy a web server and create an intranet
