Marxist/socialist feminist theory paper topic
Select one of the following question and compose an answer of at least 6
type-written, double-spaced pages:
1) If liberal feminism achieves its goals, is Marxist/socialist feminism
still necessary? In answering this question be sure that you set out the
goals of liberal feminism and what a society where these goals had been
achieved would look like and then make you case for why Marxist/socialist
feminism would still be necessary or not.
2) Do you think that the primary cause of women’s oppression, historically,
has been due to her legal inequality with men, patriarchy (understood as a
male-imposed system of oppression), or her economic dependence upon men?
Using our readings from the semester set out the argument for each in
addition to your argument for why each is or is not the primary cause of
women’s oppression.
3) Compose a Radical feminist critique of Marxist/Socialist feminism. Where
would radicals agree with the Marxist/socialists, where would they disagree?
