This course is designed to introduce students to the
principles of Wildlife Ecology and Management.
Wildlife is traditionally defined as terrestrial vertebrates –
amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals and so these groups will serve as the
focus for the course. We will
discuss the ecology of wildlife on several different levels 1) ecology of
individuals, 2) ecology of populations, and 3) ecology of communities.
The
objectives of this course are to provide you with 1) an introduction to the
major concepts of Wildlife Ecology and 2) allow you to learn the application of
the scientific method to ecological problems.
By completing this course you will gain valuable experience in gathering
and analyzing data and summarizing the results in written format.
