Written Assignments There are four written assignments which are distributed and discussed in class on a given Thursday and due the following Thursday in class. Please see class calendar The first essay is a short write up of people responses to the you asking them to explain their own actions. The write up will focus on the the Folk Psychological assumptions of their responses. The second essay involves exploring the broader issues addressed by research on neuroscience, consciousness, and sensation and perception. The essay involves students completing three free modules on the publisher's web site and answering questions about them. The third essay involves writing a fictional account about the interaction between four psychologists discussing a patient who is being treated for a problem with gambling. The account will focus on the theoretical orientation each psychologist adopts in explaining and treating the patient. For the fourth assignment, students will respond to a letter written to Dear Abby, the who was the Dr. Phil of her time and her daughter still writes her column, which is available in the Standard Examiner.
