12/11: Final grades have been
posted on WebCT and submitted to the registrar's office. If you have
received an I (Incomplete) it is because I am missing a written assignment,
which must be completed by 1/30/2010 or the grade become an E .
Exams and papers are available from my office (SS 370). I will be away
beginning 12-12-2010 and will not be answering email intil I return on
12-21-2010.
12/2: Grades were updated based
on adding the research grade (being participants in 10 units of research and
any (4 credit) research reviews I have received). Let me know if there are
nay problems.
The rewrites of Exam 3 and Written Assignment 3 are due today. If you have
already handed them in, they are reflected in your updated grade.
I have extended the quizzes to Friday at midnight. FInally, confirming the
discussion in class, the exam will run from Saturday (Dec. 4) to
Tuesday (Dec. 7th).
11/20: As promised updated grades are posted on WebCT reflecting corrections to some Exam 3 and Exam 2 scores and November 16th attendance. I have been asked about Exam 4 and I am tentatively scheduling it to run from Saturday, Dec 4th - Tuesday Dec 7th.
11/14: Assignment 3 and Exam 3
grades are posted on WebCT. Grades have also been updated for quizzes,
attendance, and rewrites of Exam 2. Exams and assignments will be
returned in class on Tuesday.
Also there is a link on the WebCT home page for the course which will link
you to a page of downloadable papers for motivated student to review to earn
research credit. Each review is worth 4 credits. To earn credit the
reviews should be serious and about 350 words in length.
I updated the pdf lecture of Psychoanalytic Theory.
11/9: Today is the last day to take Exam 3. Quizzes 10-13 are now open.
11/4: The exam will run from Today (Nov. 4) to Tuesday (Nov. 9) at the end of the day. Because of the changed exam dates, some students assumed that the quizzes would remain open until today. To accommodate these students, I have reopened the quizzes until midnight tonight.
11/2: Remember to vote and to complete Quiz 7- 9 by tonight at midnight. Assignment 2 is due today in class. Exam 3 will run to Saturday November 6.
10/22: Written Assignment 3 is due
next Thursday (10-28-10) if you want feedback before Exam 3, otherwise they
are due a week Tuesday (11-2-10). Quizzes 7, 8, and 9 are due on
Tuesday 11-2-10.
10/21: Grades are posted, sorry
for the delay! Just a reminder that rewrites of Written
Assignment 2 and corrections of Exam 2 are due on November 2nd.
Also, Written Assignment 3 will be
distributed tomorrow in class along with a
newspaper article to help with the background for the assignment.
10/10: Exam 2 will run until the closing of the Social Sciences Testing Center, on Tuesday October, 12.
10/6: Just a reminder that the Test Rewrite, Written Assignment 2, and Quizzes 5 and 6 are all due tomorrow (Thursday, October 7th).
9/23: Grades have been updated,
check WebCT.
Exam 1 was returned. Students may gain 1/3 a final percentage point for
each multiple choice error they made by writing a sentence which diagnoses
their reason for each error (e.g., not studying enough, answering too fast,
reading too much into the question, justifying their response as correct).
Also essay maybe rewritten for a slightly higher grade. Take your exam to
the testing center, ask for the Psych 1010 exam to review, complete the
corrections in the blue book, and return the blue book to me by Thursday
October 7th.
I have added some background reading to the lecture page on adolescent brain
development (click
here) and norephrineprine's role in problem gambling (click
here).
Remember Quizzes 5 and 6 are up and due on October 7th.
9/15: Because of a glitch with Quiz 4, it will remain open until Thursday. Also, we agreed in class that Exam 1 will run from Wednesday (9-15) to Saturday (9-18).
9/13: Tomorrow (9/14) we will finish
off lectures and review for Exam 1. Remember that quizzes 2-4 are due
by midnight. The Exam will begin on Wednesday (9/15) and continue to
Friday (9-17) in the Social and Behavioral Science Testing Center (click
here) which is in the basement of the Social Science building. You must
begin the Exam 1 before closing (8:00 usually, 4:30 on Friday and Saturday)
and you will be permitted to stay one hour after closing to complete it.
Also I have linked some videos to the lecture page, including the one we
listened to in class by B F Skinner, one on Bandura (and his bobo doll
study), Pavlov (and his salivating dog study), and J.B. Watson (and his
study terrorizing poor little Albert).
9/11: All
grades have been updated on WebCT. On the WebCT homepage for the class, you
will also see the new Psychology Department Newsletter. Please take a look
at it as it has lots of relevant information.
9/2: Lecture 2 (Folk Psych) PDF is now linked.
8/30: There was a problem with the S&P quiz which I fixed. Two of the 16 items were not being automatically scored and so, prior to the fix, students were computer graded on 14 questions. Students will get full credit for the quiz if they scored 100%, no matter whether 14 or all 16 questions were scored. Remember the quiz is closed on Tuesday 8/31 at midnight and Written Assignment 1 is due in class on Thursday.
8/24:
