Pecos River Restoration

 

This project evaluated the effects of river channel restoration at Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge on nursery habitat for the federally threatened Pecos bluntnose shiner.  This project was funded by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation through the Department of Natural Resource Management at South Dakota State University.  Additional cooperators and allies include the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

The study was conducted by and SDSU graduate student Jake Mecham.  He completed his MS thesis in 2015.
