Dear Phil Osterholt,
I am submitting my short story, "Ma Loves Jete" (4, 070 words), for your consideration in 108, Celebrating Baseball.
I teach literature and creative writing at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and besides scholarly articles, have published art reviews for Ogdenís Junction magazine, and a short story in the journal Dialogue. Additionally, a chapter of my unpublished novel will appear in a forthcoming issue of Weber: The Contemporary West. I support Ogdenís local baseball team, the Raptors, Pioneer League affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. A transplant to Utah, Iím also a displaced Yankees fan.
Enclosed is a SASE for your response. Please recycle the submission if you are not interested in publishing it. This is an exclusive submission.
Your listing in Novel & Short Story Writerís Market states you seek humor, mainstream writing, and stories in which "baseball is an integral part of the story," which fit my short fiction. I hope you enjoy the piece, and thanks for your time in considering it.
