Why
two portfolios?
There are two portfolios due: the
paper version of the electronic documents and
the electronic version of the paper documents.
Usually all of the files you create are electronic
before you print them out to give to an instructor.
So, they mirror each other.
- The electronic version
of your documents are easy to access and
can be used to rebuild your paper portfolio
if it gets lost.
- The paper version is easy to pass around
in a group without access to a computer. And
you can reuse the printed, graded versions
of your assignments by putting them into your
portfolio.
- Your portfolio will become part of your evidence
for your Level 2 licensure after you are hired
by a district. Some of the school districts
in the state are using the Electronic version
of portfolio, some are use the paper version
of portfolio.
What do I need to have in the paper portfolio?
It is important to remember that the
portfolio is accumulative. You don't take anything
out.
- A 3-ring binder with 10 numbered tabs (1-10)
- The template you download from the portfolio
web page should be completed, saved, and printed
out. The template is set up to print out as
separate pages for each of the INTASC standards.
Put the pages that have information on them,
into the portfolio in the appropriate order.
- Put the Cover Sheet as the first page of
your portfolio.
- Put the Artifacts At a Glance spreadsheet
behind your Cover Sheet. Fill it in with the
information about what artifacts you have placed
in the portfolio and mark the standards where
they are placed. Update it every semester.
When you reach the Student Teaching Level,
the template you use will have a Table of
Contents and additonal areas for your resume,
etc. Keep and update your Artifacts At a Glance
even after you add the Table of Contents. It
makes it much easier to find your artifacts
quickly.
- The end of level reflection goes
before the standards begin. When
you reach the Student Teaching Level, you
will create a Philosophy Statement. That
will be placed on top of the end of level
reflections you have done.
- Put the artifacts you have chosen
as examples for the required INTASC standards
into the
binder, behind the reflection page
you wrote which in turn goes behind
the Standard tab. For example, for Standard
2 (Human Development), behind the tab for
Standard
2,
you have the reflection about your Learning
Theory
paper,
and behind the reflection sheet,
you have your graded version of the Learning
Theory paper.
Every semester you will add to your portfolio.
The newest artifacts will go on top of the older
ones.
How do I put my PowerPoint presentation into
the paper portfolio?
Print out a "handout" version of your PowerPoint
presentation. To get the handout view which shows
several slides per page, open your PowerPoint
presentation. Choose the "Print" command from
the File menu. Look at the print window. You
will see "Print what" and it will show "Slides."
Click on "Slides" and choose "handout with 3
slides" to print out a version of your PowerPoint
presentation that has 3 slides per page.
How do I put a digital movie into the paper
portfolio?
Burn a copy of your movie onto a CD or a DVD.
Use a plastic holder sheet for 3-ring binders
specifically for CDs. You can get one from most
places that sell office supplies. Put it into
the binder behind the reflection about your movie.
What do I do if I reflect on my TWS in more
than one place?
Don't put the TWS in multiple places. Do reference
the section of the TWS you are reflecting on
in the area that requests the name of the artifact.
For example, you might reflect on the assessment
plan in your TWS in Standard 8. Simply indicate
"See assessment plan in TWS" on the reflection
sheet, and then reflect on the assessment plan.
What goes into the electronic portfolio?
Everything that you put into your paper portfolio,
should be saved into your eFolio. Click
