Dr. Todd C. Baird has been employed
at Weber State University since August of 2002 when he was hired as a lecturer in the
Department of Psychology. In August of
2003 he transitioned to Weber State University's Counseling and
Psychological Services Center where he provided clinical services to
students, faculty, and staff members. While in the counseling center
he continued to teach both
introductory and advanced psychology courses as an adjunct faculty
member. In December of 2005 he accepted a tenure track position in the Department of
Psychology where he currently teaches courses on introductory
psychology, child development, adolescent development, interpersonal
relations, abnormal psychology, theories of personality, and
research methods and design. His current research focuses on family
communication patterns, teaching and learning in psychology, and
ethics.
Dr. Baird received a Bachelors
Degree in psychology from Utah State University in 1992. In 1993 he
completed a Masters Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in School
Counseling. He received a Doctorate Degree from Brigham Young University
in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2002.
Dr. Baird has been providing
counseling services to individuals, couples, and families for over
15 years. Prior to his employment at Weber
State University he worked as a Care Manager for one of the nation's
largest managed care companies, Magellan Behavioral Health. In
addition, he served as Program Director of Klamath Youth Development
Center's Child Day-Treatment Program and as a Team Director at Island
View Residential Treatment Center in Syracuse, Utah.
He has presented on a wide
variety of mental health topics to professional and lay audiences.
He has been licensed in the state of Utah as a Marriage and Family
Therapist since 1996. He also maintains clinical membership in
the
American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
He currently manages a small private practice in the community and does
contract work for L.D.S. Family Services.
