Botany LS1203, Plant Biology:  The materials and information for my BTNY LS1203 section will be available through WSU Online/Canvas.

Botany 2104, Plant Form and Function:  The Botany 2104 Syllabus and Course Schedule will be available online.  You can go to the Botany 2104 Home Page to access these items and additional materials or to WSU Online/Canvas. Two texts are required:  Biology of Plants, 8th ed, by Evert and Eichhorn and Botany 2104 Lab Manual by Harley, Bush, and Wachocki.  Two texts are recommended.  One of them, Writing Papers in the Biological Sciences by V. E. McMillan, is required for Botany 2121.  The other, A Photographic Atlas for the Botany Laboratory by Van de Graff et al., has been recommended in the past for Botany 2114.  The texts are available at the WSU Bookstore.  Note:  Students currently enrolled in the Botany major or minor program who already have the 7th edition of Biology of Plants may continue to use it.

Botany 3303, Plant Genetics:  The syllabus for Botany 3303 and links to support materials will be available at the Botany 3303 website on WSU Online/Canvas You will need a copy of Watson JD. The Double Helix. Norton Critical Edition, ed. by Gunther S. Stent and a calculator capable of determining standard deviation.  Recommended texts that you should have already:  Biology of Plants (Botany 2104/2114), Writing Papers in the Biological Sciences (Botany 2121)

Botany 4990, Seminar in Botany:  This course consists of a series of student-presented seminars.  The course is to be taken the last semester of the senior year. Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in courses needed to meet the minimum requirements for a degree in Botany.  SyllabusSeminar Instructions


General Information

Citing References The Botany Department has agreed to require that students use the Council of Science Editors (formerly the Council of Biology Editors) format (author-year) for citations for all Botany assignments, including the portfolio essay and student theses.  A copy of the CSE style manual, Scientific Style and Format, is in the reference collection of the Stewart Library

Botany Department Statement of Expectations of Students

The annual Botany Department field trip to the Uinta Mountains is scheduled for September 14, 2012.  Information about the field trip can be obtained at the Uinta Mountains Field Trip Home Page.  Pictures from the 2002, 2003, 200420052006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 trips can be seen online.
