Dr. Seshachari recused himself from this component of the meeting. Judith Mitchell, Vice Chair, conducted this portion of the meeting to consider Dr. Eisler's challenge of Dr. Guliuzza as Chair of the Faculty Board of Review. The committee met under the authority granted it pursuant to WSU PPM 9-12.

DISCUSSION The discussion centered around PPM sections 1-13 and 9-12. Doug Richards answered questions and concerns of committee members regarding WSU policies. The committee was very concerned and cognizant of the fact that all parties receive a fair hearing and due process throughout this matter. After discussion of questions and concerns Doug Richards and Kay Brown were excused and the Executive Committee made deliberations.

DECISION After a careful review and analysis of the facts, issues, and arguments presented in this matter, it was the unanimous opinion of this committee that Dr. Guliuzza be recused from chairing the Board of Review in Dr. Dyreson's tenure appeal based upon stated cause.

MEETING RECONVENED
The meeting reconvened with Candadai Seshachari as Chair.

RSPG FUNDING
A copy of Dave Eisler's memo was distributed to the committee. WSU has received a total of $10,000 from the Hemingway Trust in support of new faculty to Weber State University. This money is available through the normal RSPG process on a one-year trial basis to first and second year faculty for research.

SALARIES
President Thompson meet with the Executive Committee. In March of 1995 $320,000 was taken from faculty and staff salaries to help with budget cuts. That money is now going to be returned to faculty and staff members who were employed at WSU during March 1995 and who are still currently employed. The money amounts to about 7/10 of 1%. Half of the money will be distributed in November as a lump sum. The remaining half will be added to payroll checks beginning in January 1998 and continue through the June 30th pay period. This money will be added to the base salary amount and the new base will be used to figure salary increases for the coming year.

ADJOURNED The meeting adjourned at 2:55 p.m.
