ASSA
Admissions, Standards and Student Affairs – Erika Daines, Chair

Editorial changes to PPM 4 include spelling errors, current practice, bringing the numbered sections are up to date, making sure the policy is consistent, and striking what was redundant. No substantive changes or changes in policy were made.

Section E.1, of PPM 4-19, indicates that a student must have ..... "satisfactorily completed approximately 80% of the required work" .... in order to be considered for an incomplete grade.

It was mentioned that our current form, Instructor's Report of an Incomplete, indicates an incomplete may be given to a student ...."who, after having completed a substantial portion of the required work, is unable to complete the class work for a legitimate reason" ..... i.e., the 80% wording is missing.

Executive Committee members felt that the 80% wording needed to be included on the form. Winslow Hurst will be contacted and asked to reprint the forms.

MOTION
Sue Harley: Moved to approve the editorial changes to PPM 4.
Second: Dawn Gatherum
Outcome: The motion passed unanimously.

Program change for the Microbiology major. The department is changing one course from required to elective and one course from elective to required.

Math is proposing a course change for Discrete Mathematics Applied to Computing - MATH 1140, increasing credit hours from 3 to 4 to allow for a programming section in the curriculum, and adding CS 1130 as a prerequisite for the course.

Course change from Physics for Electronics II - Phsx 3420. The course title is being changed to Data Acquisition and Analysis to reflect the changes in the course content. In the past the emphasis has been on building analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog convertors and then using those to interface other electronics to the computer. In practice, no one does that any more. Currently included in the instruction is material that provides students with an in depth understanding of computerized control, data acquisition and data analysis.
