JUSTIFICATION:

HLTH 1300 First Aid (2) is required by the state of Utah as well as by our national organization NCACE of all individuals who are teaching and coaching at the secondary level.  2.  An increase of semester hours for PEP 2500  Skills, Drills and Strategies is necessary to cover the necessary course content as outlined by the standards of our national organization, (NCACE) National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education, which is a non-profit organization established by sport leaders from across the country and is a subcommittee of NASPE, the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.  The department of HPHP currently has the faculty and facilities needed to implement this course change.
