Justification for the new course or for changes to an existing course. (Note: Justification should emphasize academic rationale for the change or new course. This is particularly important for courses requesting upper-division status.)

The combination of both curriculum development and assessment of student learning of that curriculum seem to easily blend and in fact readily complement and solidify the application of theories discussed in both courses. Students have recommended in evaluations that both the Curriculum Development and Instructional Strategies PEP 3520 (3) and the Assessment and Technology PEP 3610 (3) courses be taken concurrently or be combined for ease of understanding and application in the realm of teaching physical education. The content of the revised course is required as a means of showing evidence of completion of NASPE Standards for Initial Physical Education Teachers Standards 3.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 4.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 5.1, 2, 3.
