zUniversity is an internet-based company that partners with alumni associations and universities to build school-branded out-sourced Internet portals.   Our mission is to create a life-long connection between universities and their constituents and to generate revenue for our partners. zUniversity brings an experienced team of over 150 marketing, finance, and technology experts to the partnership.  Our self-funding portals integrate valuable personalizable services like daily updated news and weather, stock quotes, and free life-time email with local university content, an e-commerce mall, web tools including community software, on-line alumni directories, on-line newsletters, calendars, and bulletin boards.    Our North American network consists of 85 university partners in various stages of site-implementation.   Our partners have complete control over their offerings including content, sponsorships, marketing, and personnel. We also have a strict privacy policy contained on our corporate web-site http://www.zuniversity.com/. We publish our own content and maintain our own servers. We require no back-end integration or technical support by universities.  However, where desired and appropriate, we have the expertise and resources to integrate data with existing campus systems.  We believe that supporting the site with local staff is the key to building traffic and ultimately achieving our goal of increasing the bonds between universities and their constituents. Zuniversity trains and pays the local staff and provides a significant marketing budget for portal promotion.  Local Staffing for each partner includes:

• Full-time Manager of University Relations- accountable for all site operations including content, marketing, and technical support (may be shared for small schools) 
• 1-4 Student Intern(s)-train(s) users on community software, helps market the site (15 hours per week
• Content Correspondent (Stringer)-gathers and writes university and local news for the site  (15 stories per week)

In summary, Zuniversity provides a capital-free way for universities to utilize the Internet to provide valuable services to constituents and to generate revenue while protecting the integrity of the institution and it’s .edu sites by not residing on university servers. Our partners sign a license and royalty agreement thus unrelated business income taxes (UBIT) do not apply.
