For many campuses the first portal constructed will be a student portal. Campuses with significant web access to student information and e-Business systems will find that a portal helps to bring all these services together in one coordinated point of access.

Today we present several examples of student portals and an interesting analysis of student needs at the University of Texas. Examples of portal support for prospective students are presented along with something I've termed study portals. This additional grouping of student portals is focused on student study and helping students to improve academic performance.

The materials on student portals are accessible here http://weber.edu/portals/student_portals.htm  Monday's lesson will include materials I've collected that may prove useful to you for further study. I've learned much assembling them and am hopeful they will prove useful to you. As always, I enjoy hearing from you with your reactions and thoughts on portals and this project.

PS This lesson is sent from Boston where I've been working with Steve Gilbert and a team of presenters on a two-day track on campus portals. Steve and I will be incorporating these materials in our preconference workshop planned for the AASCU winter CAO meeting in New Orleans.
