Biographical Information

Dr. Burton has over three decades experience in public and private healthcare administration. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army as a Medical Service Corps Officer retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served in assignments throughout the United States, Korea and Germany. He is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit. Prior to coming to Weber State University Dr. Burton was a Professor of Management at Colorado Technical University. He has extensive experience in ambulatory clinic operations, management in acute care facilities, patient scheduling systems and managed care development. His education includes a Master of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, a Master of Healthcare Administration from Baylor University and a Doctor of Management from Colorado Technical University. His dissertation research addressed implementation of medical call centers in demand management programs. He is a charter member and past President of the Pikes Peak Healthcare Executives Forum. He is an active member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration and a Fellow with the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education. In Fall 2006 he began a three year term as Chair of Health Administrative Services. |
