The Response Paper serves a number of purposes:
-
It gives you an opportunity to
figure out what you understand, what you don't, and what you want to question.
I'm as interested in the questions you ask as the answers you give in
your Response Papers. Think of this writing as a safe place to explore. You're
allowed to fumble around. Your writing does not have to be perfect., but
should not be sloppy! Relax!
- Your Response Paper lets me see what we need to spend more time on in class.
- Your writing will often act as a springboard for class discussion.
- Your Response Paper shows me that you've done the assigned reading.
- Your Response Paper shows me that you've completed the
assigned project.
This is the classic final exam questions: What do you now know
and how do you know this?
