Rough Draft

This draft should be 10-15 pages in length, based on your outline, and show progress in completing the paper. Believe it or not, drafting should be the least time-consuming step in the research paper process. Invention should take longer. Research should take longer. And revising should definitely take longer.

You do not need to include footnotes in this draft.

Peer Reviewers should help their colleague in the revision process by pointing out strengths, weaknesses, unfulfilled potential:

• Is the thesis clearing defined.
• Has the author adequately conceptualized the project? What questions do they not ask of their evidence? Does the scope of the project need to be broadened or narrowed?
• Is the paper well organized? What suggestions might you make for better organization?
• At what points is the argument well supported by the evidence? Where is the argument in need of more support?
