Response #3: Summarize and comment on any one of the  field trips

Response #4 Attend a meeting of Landmarks; summarize and comment.

Review #1: Chose a substantial article (not a book review) from The Public Historian. (The Public historian is available through JSTOR -- you can just browse the issues.) Write a short paper summarizing and commenting on its usefulness to you as a aspiring public historian. 2-3 pages, free of spelling and grammar errors.  Cite the article using Chicago Style Manuel (Turabian)

#1: present one of the most endangered sites in US according to National Trust (5 minutes with handout)

#2:  present 2 of the Internet Resources listed  in the web notes (5 minutes with handout)

Students will also present orally less formally on several other topics (architectural styles, curatorial project, etc.)

Project #3: choose one:

  • Personal preservation/conservation project
  • Read Tyler: "Downtown Revitalization." Tour a downtown historic district such as Ogden's 25th St. Interview a business owner. (There is a 25th Street Association: http://www.25thstreetogden.com/index.php) How are they part of the revitalization?
