Oral History

the recording, preservation and interpretation of information, based on the personal experiences and opinions of the speaker.

 

 

Research  and report orally about a digitized oral history collection:

Students will provide a handout.  (15 points possible)

Five

  Chose a substantial article from The Public Historian HN1.P8. Write a short paper summarizing and commenting on its usefulness to you as a aspiring public historian. 2-3 pages, free of spelling and grammar errors. Cite the article using Chicago Style Manuel (Turabian).

Peer review draft due: September 21; final draft due: September 28  (10 points possible)

Archival Work
ARCHIVES
(1) The non-current records of an organization or institution preserved because of their continuing value. (2) The agency responsible for selecting, preserving, and making available records determined to have permanent or continuing value. (3) The building or part of a building where archival materials are located.
 
ARCHIVIST
The professional staff member within an archival institution responsible for any aspect of the selection, preservation, or use of archival materials
