WSU German Program - Universität Bayreuth Exchange
As of April 2004, Weber State University's German Program offers a unique opportunity for students to study abroad for one or more semesters in Bayreuth. The German Sommersemester typically runs from mid-late April to end of July, with classes out then in August providing time for plenty of travel. Our WSU students have always received permission from their spring semester professors to depart for Germany prior to the completion of the spring semester at WSU -- particularly since this is a WSU-sanctioned exchange, with some participants leaving for Germany during the first or second week of April.

In exchange, we host German students from the Universität Bayreuth during the fall semester, with some  students staying through the following spring. To date, we've had 4 WSU students participate in the exchange in 2004; 4 participants in 2005; 6 in 2006 (with two having remained in Germany for continued studies and travel through the fall of 2006); 4 participated in the 2007 exchange; 5 WSU students travelled to Bayreuth April 10th for the 2008 Austausch; and three more students completed their Sommersemester during the 2009 exchange.
For the 2010 year, 5 students participated, and one WSU student secured a prestigious internship  --- thanks to the Exchange Program's Business emphasis with Professor Erika Daines --- that has enabled Jake to gain career experience in Germany's banking industry. During the 2011 summer, 3 students participated, two on scholarship funding. During this past summer 2012, 1 student w/ full scholarship support, and we anticipate for 2013 Summer in Bayreuth, at least two students are confirmed to travel, with a possibility of a third.

WSU German majors and minors interested in spending a semester studying at the Universität Bayreuth can contact me, as the Director of the Uni Bayreuth -- WSU Exchange.

NOTES/RANDBEMERKUNGEN:
