WSU German Program - Universität Bayreuth Exchange

As of April 2004, Weber State University's German Program offers an exceptional opportunity for students to study abroad for one or more semesters in Bayreuth. The German Sommersemester typically runs from mid-April to August, and students have received permission from their spring semester professors to depart for Germany prior to the completion of the spring semester at WSU -- particularly since this is a WSU-sanctioned exchange, with some participants leaving for Germany as early as the first week of April.
In exchange, we host at least six German students from the Universität Bayreuth during each fall, with some of these German students staying through the following spring semester. To date, we have had 4 WSU students participate in the exchange in 2004; 4 participants in 2005; 6 in 2006 (with two having remained in Germany for continued studies and travel through the fall of 2006); 4 participated in the Sommersemester 2007 exchange; and, currently, 5 WSU students have already travelled to Bayreuth on April 10th for the 2008 Sommersemester.

We expect to send 5-7 students for the 2009 Sommersemester.

WSU German majors and minors interested in spending a semester studying at the Universität Bayreuth should review the information I have compiled as Coordinator of Study Abroad Programs in Germany, available at: WSU - Universität Bayreuth Exchange Program. This website is undergoing revision during April - May, 2008, and is currently posting updated information for students interested in participating for the Sommersemester 2009.
