Please check the message page often for any updates or changes in the class

  • 10/23;  Grades have been updated (see Gradebook in Canvas), in light of completing the grading of the Psychologists Paper.  I am still missing papers from some of you who I emailed through Canvas.  Please check!  Also, the Attendance grade has been updated to include the 2 summary paper requirement as part of the 15%, a requirement which few of you have done.  Please take this assignment seriously. Remember Midterm exams are due today as we start on the Stanovich Book!

  • 0/20:  Grades have been posted to Canvas.  I am sorry for the delay. If you have any questions, you know where to reach me. The grades include extra credit for having completed the IRB certificate. Please hand in your certificate if you have yet to do so as they are required.

  • 10/16:  All students must complete an IRB training in this course.  Completing the training will result in you receiving an IRB certificate.  To complete the IRB training and received the certificate, go to the NIH Training site, register, complete all the modules, and print up or electronically save the certificate.  Then send the certificate to me!  Pleae do this by next class period!

  • 10/15: Just a reminder that your Psychology Careers paper is due on Tuesday (10/16) and that your Take Home Exam is due next Tuesday (10/23). On Thursday, we are having a discussion with a group of invited students who are about to graduate or who have graduated and gone on to jobs or graduate schools. Please make a concerted effort to attend.

BTW: The links to Psi Chi papers in the lectures are now fixed. Please also be reminded that you are expected to write a review of two background readings between now and the end of the semester. Preparing your Take Home Exam would be an optimal time to review these readings.

  • 9/23:  As announced in class on Thursday, the due date for the Pop Psychology Papers has been moved to nextThursday.

  • 9/6:  For next class, learn more about Systematic Reviews in EBP by clicking here (http://www.ebbp.org/training.html), which is the training module page from the EBT web site. Then click on Systematic Reviews.  You will have to register (free) and then login in.  There is a pretest assessment which you can quickly perform.   Read through the module and write a brief review summarizing what you learned and how it might apply to any helping profession!

  • 8/31: Errors on the syllabus and the quiz have been corrected. Please make sure that you have earned 100% on the quiz to get full credit.

  • 8/28: Welcome to the class. Theresa Kay and I wrote a short paper about the development of this class.  You can read it by clicking on Amsel and Kay (2007)

Your first assignment is to complete a Syllabus and Course Policy quiz.  It is available on Chitester (click here) between 8/25 and 9/6 at midnight.  You need to score 100% to earn class credit, but you can take the quiz as many time as necessary between now and the 6th to earn the 100%.

Your second assignment, is to prepare answers to discussion questions for Thursday's class (Discussion Questions). The questions are also posted on Canvas (the learning management system for the course) which is available at http://canvas.weber.edu.  Just use your wildcat login and go to the Psy 2010 class, click on discussion boards, then Informal Discussion I.  Feel free to post responses there before and after the Thursday discussion.

Your final assignment is to complete a series of questionnaires available at https://weberpsych.us.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_4PjyM6i2q652xal.
The questionnaires address students' knowledge, beliefs, attitudes, and values about the nature, methods, ethics and applications psychology. Completing the assignment will earn you extra class credit.
