Presentations

You'll be forming groups to give presentations on the authors and their texts that we are studying. You have until the end of our next class to create a group, but those of you presenting on Wednesday should arrange today to get together. I will model a presentation and each person in the group is responsible for a 1-page, typewritten double-spaced, description of the information s/he contributed. The quality of this description will determine how many of the 15 points available for the presentation you will receive. Creativity in the presentation will earn extra points.

Questions your group might consider for the presentation:

1. What autobiographical facts contribute to the creation of the person's text?

2. What seem to be the attitudes that underlie the writing?

3. What differences in the person's culture and time from our own make the piece hard to understand or accept?

4. How does the text connect to our own time and culture? To our own lives?

5. What is the quest that the piece focuses on? Is the goal achieved? Why or why not? Should it be? Why or why not?

6. What does the text teach us about ourselves and/or others?
