Course Description: This course consists of two blocks of content. The first block centers around the functioning of the foreign exchange market and explanations of exchange rate determination. We will study the basic economic models developed to explain exchange rate movements and compare how well these model perform empirically. The second block centers around the role of exchange rates in the context of open-economy macroeconomic models.
