Announcements
- Student End of course evaluations, remember, these are now on
chitester, not on
SNAP. Tell students to go to Chitester.weber.edu, click on "Take a
test", then they will need to enter their 88#, then they will click on
the instructors name or course, then on the evaluation form. This form is
secure and will supposedly enable cross section comparisons. Jamie
will compile results and distribute as usual.
- Congrats to JaNae on Shaun on their recent article on
GIS in Computers in Libraries!
- UALC Fall Retreat in Zion Park - October 21 and 22
- As may arise - Carol will
be taking a leave to work at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi. Joan
will let the team know how Carol's position and responsibilities will be
reconfigured at a later date.
Discussion
-
Gen Ed reform and undergrad research committee
updates from Carol - these three presidential initiatives offer the
library useful and important opportunities for further integrating and
promoting information literacy across the curriculum. Let Joan know if
you are interested in serving on one of these committees as Carol is
leaving.
- First Year Student Success initiative committee
- Carol met briefly with Bruce Bowen, Associate Provost, on Monday
and he is interested in working with us as his task force goes
forward in planning for first year student success.
-
Upward Bound (strongly relates to student success
initiative and where we are going with face to face navigator) - Carol
will set up a meeting to begin planning this instruction next week.
-
English 2010 new draft exercise design - We have a
new design via K Stevenson and her student Andrew Clark, a senior in Graphic
Design who works at Standard
Examiner. He followed instructions from Fran, Lonna and Carol's
subcommittee. The team liked his first draft and think it is an
improvement on what we have. Team members will give Carol, Fran or Lonna
feedback on the draft before Tuesday May 11 at noon. We will then meet
with Andrew again next week to give him feedback for an almost final
draft. Fran says the final draft needs to be printed by June 16. Since
we are printing so many copies for so many students let's make it look
as nice as we can. Your feedback is important, especially since you will
be the ones using it!
-
Web CT and the Internet Navigator - this is a great
deal of work, but it is coming along. Carol will work with a graphic
designer next week to input new graphic headers on every page. Carol
begins teaching this May 17. Kathy, Art and Shaun begin teaching a month
later.
-
Instruction data database - It seems to be working
well. Carol will ask jamie to oversee inputting the rest of the data for
this year from the purple sheets (before march). Carey needs to have the
page added to her portal, Carol will follow up with Ben Barraza on this.
-
Fars - Carol asks team members to please let her know
about any info lit related accomplishements, such as assessments, CE or scholarship activities
so she may be sure to highlight these in her annual
report. Team members are curious to know when Far's and annual reports
are due?
