Discussion

  1. Outcomes assessment - Carol introduced the draft assessment process  and had asked everyone to review the following carefully before the meeting. There seemed to be a consensus to go ahead with the draft process and make adjustments as needed.
    • Instruction Assessment Web page attached. Carol has added links to some other useful assessment information pages.
    • The team reviewed the draft mission (first part of instruction program profile) and made suggestions. Carol will make those suggestions on the Web copy. Please send any additional suggestions as needed.
    • The team is really working on two parallel assessments:
      • Assessment of instruction program (see below #2)
      • Assessment of student learning in each type of instruction
  2. The team discussed ideas on department/program goals for coming year. Two items suggested were
    1. assessment
    2. assisting with new hires
    3. Carol presented her list of possible goals  for the team for 2001/2002. Team will review and make a decision on priority team outcomes at the next team meeting on April 26.
  3. The following ideas were suggested for Untangle Sessions for Fall 2001. Carol will put together a draft schedule, find presenters and send a draft out to the team later in the semester. Anyone else wishing to volunteer a session or ideas for sessions, please let Carol know.

    10. Internet Privacy and Security Issues -
    11. PC troubleshooting or Buying a PC - Laura Anderson
  4. There was a brief discussion of the need for changes in wording of instruction evaluation criteria and/or performance expectations to reflect if we value members that are more proactive or more wiling to initiate. Joan seemed to think existing wording was adequate.
  5. Team is dividing up responsibilities for Instruction guides. Carol will put together a draft page listing these and will update it as soon as the reference guides page is up.  Let Carol know if there is a guide you would like to take responsibility for maintaining and updating. Guides are now assigned to the following:
    1. Shaun - Using search Engines
    2. Art - Citing Print and Electronic Sources
    3. Using Call Numbers - Wade
  6. Other items as may arise
    1. Carol is concerned the Friends mouse pads, although they look wonderful, they are confusing to students as they do not reinforce the Library's URL. She would like them removed and replaced with mouse pads that reinforce instruction.
    2. Carol will order refrigerator magnets for all 2010 and FYE students with the library URL.
