As may arise
Discussion
Fall English 2010 and FYE exercise and PowerPoint - any issues/suggestions for subcommittee (Carol, Lonna, Fran) which WILL meet soon.
- Kathy suggested we remove the reference to "Home" on 2010 and FYE exercises as students at Davis tend to be confused. It may also be better to help all students memorize http://library.weber.edu
- Brianna suggested students were having trouble finding things in Funk and Wagnall's. We decided it would be better to let them explore the newly better developed reference resources page instead
- Summer and Fall English 2010 comments
- FYE comments - Carol has posted the Fall 2003 FYE comments since the meeting and they look quite good. One idea coming from the comments would be to provide students with a handout on the information literacy competency requirement.
Faculty Issues
- Review and discuss any needed updates for faculty performance expectations or the faculty evaluation criteria
- No one had time to read these AGAIN, so carol will put printed copies ineveryones box and give a limited timeframe making suggestions
- Web CT - training and Internet Navigator conversion. All library faculty were strongly advised again to sign up immediately for Web CT training. The Internet Navigator course will be taught via Web CT beginning Summer quarter 2004. All of our other Lib Sci courses/sections will be able to use Web CT to deliver content and for the online gradebook.
- Student end of course evaluations - the problems with SNAP were discussed again. Carol is working with Joan, Jamie and Web CT /Chitester on new forms. They are all ready to go and an update will be announced soon.
- 2003/2004 draft goals and action items - any suggestions? We ran out of time/energy.
- We noticed that a universal find and replace seems to have been done on the library Web for "library instruction" replacing it with "learning resources." This makes no sense to the team. Team feels that in general the correct term for "library instruction" or bibliographic instruction" would be "instruction" or "information literacy instruction". Team will watch out for this and make corrections, or request corrections, as they pop up.
