It was a good and helpful tutorial, the only problem was accessing the database "Academic Search Elite" because it was so overloaded. But that is not the librarians fault. Otherwise this was a very helpful exercise. Thank you very much!

I understand the need to hold a class to inform students of the information and technology that the library has to offer...but shouldn't this class be held in an entry level class such as 101. I attended another University in SLC and went through this same class already. Although the information was presented in a different light, it was basically the same information. Perhaps for future classes, this instructional class should be held only for those who need it, and not a required attendance. Instruction was good. Presentation was good. This instruction class was a lot like the internet navigator class I took last semester. Much of the stuff that was explained I already knew about, but there were some things that I learned how to use better within the library website.

I have done this activity before in my First Experience class so therefor I didn't really learn anything new!

The session was very helpful and informative. However, it could have been a little bit better if the lab aide had not lectured for so long. I think that it might help students more if you went through some of the things together.

I think that it was useful to give us, the students, a hands-on experience in finding resources to use in the future. I think it is important to be able to know how to use at least some of the sources of information gathering.

We live in a time where people are now growing up surrounded by computers. If a college student doesn't know how to use a computer a class should be optional not manditory. I feel that the lecture on library computers was a complete waste of time.

I actually did this in Logan. I had to call to get my student ID, the librarian was not polite and was hesitant to give me my number, she seemed very put out. It was very frustrating. Other then that it was fine.

I thought that this library exercise was very useful. I was taught several useful tools that I didn't know were available.

It definately help so I am not completely library illiterate, but I will still most likely need to ask the librarians for help.

It really helped me out for research. I just feel bad that I didn't get this lecture earlier, so I could research more effectively earlier in college. Maybe this should be made available to 1010 students.

After the presentation was over with, I was a little confused. Everything seemed to over-lap eachother. The hand out was pretty well layed out and clear to understand.

Presentation went well. Assignment was a little confusing. Each site seemed to over lap with what to do at each site.

This session was very useful, especially having a librarian there to encourage and answer any questions. I really appreciated the fact that Dr. Young was also available during the session. Thank you for this opportunity.

The Majority of Students at WSU are familiar with computers and the internet. I felt like the instructor was not aware of, I felt as if the intstructor assumed that none of us had used a computer or the internet before this time in our lives

These skills will surely be a great asset to me as I research varias topics. I'm excited to use it in the future. During the classroom presentation I felt rushed. Perhaps it would have been sufficient to have given a simple introduction and then to have left the students the remainder of the time to do the excercises themselves. This way their questions could be answered as needed and they could move at their own speed. I also feel that an inadequate description of what we were doing was given; I didn't know why we were in the library nor what the goal of our instruction was. Thankyou and keep up the good work!!!!!

This seems incredibly pointless. We are not a bunch of children who have never been in a library before, neither have we never used a computer. We have been using computers since kindergarden. Why waste an entire class period to go over inane, redundant information? I would not continue this exercise. Although, I doubt my comment will have any true effect on future students.

The information was good. I am very familiar with internet research but the resources available on the library sites are very helpful.

I did not previously know how to use these services therefore this exercise was very helpful in the case of researching in the future

I thought it was just the right length: enough practice to learn to navigate, but not too much to be considered busy work

The number 9 question that asked us to find a book by a favorite or famous author seemed a bit useless to me, but I already knew how to look that sort of thing up. I think if students are in a 2010 English class they will have already had to visit the library and check out a book.

It was a great experience but the librarian could have slowed it down a bit for the people who werent following her.

The teacher gave us 100 points to do this assignment so thankyou for an easy 100 points

This was way good for me because I had no clue what I was doing in the library before. Now I don't need to be so afraid of coming to the library I guess. So this exercise is way effective, especially for people like me who don't really know what they are doing yet. I didn't know WSU library could do so much.

It took a long time because of the printer and everyone trying to print, and that made it frustrating

The librarian needs a better introduction to the class. I didn't know why or what I was doing really until I read my assignment.

I really learned a lot and I liked it at the start of the semester so I can use it durring the rest of the semester. The only thing that was bad was the room was hot but that is not your fault.

I think the section on exploring article databases was extremely useful. It helped me to learn how to locate journals a lot quicker.

It was to hot in the library class room. I notice it is too hot in many areas of the library. It makes it hard to focus.

Although I already knew how to search for topics, it helped to make me read more about it and actually go through and search for something I need.

I am so happy that they have this for 2010 students. I feel so much more confident now for finding research for this class and others. I'm not as nervous now about going to the library. Thanks!!

I think that we should have been allowed to do this assignment in class or while at the library session. The whole class could have done whatever their subjec t was and had the librarian walk the through the steps as a group, but with individuals researching their own topic. The library class got incredibly boring.

I really had a hard time finding a book I would enjoy just reading. Do you not have books just for enjoyment? The only books I found were totally for educational purposes.

I found this exersize very usefull. I need to do a lot of research papers and until now, I only used google. Now I know how to use more information and also how to find more accurate information. This is a very helpful assignment, I'm glad I did it.

Very cool how learning how to do research is incorporated into the cirriculum. Extremely helpful not only for this class, but all of my courses as well as personal research.

I think every student in college needs to use the available resources as much as possible, this is a great exercise.

The encyclopedia wasn't as helpful as I hoped. I was looking up anti-depressants and I did not receive much information. I probably should use more of a medical encyclopedia, but overall this was very helpful.

I already know how to do all of this, I learned it in high school. It is a complete waste of my time. I also have to do this exact type of assignment in other classes. It is quite redundant and boring. If people are stupid enough not to know how to do this, they need to go back to high school immediately. Delete this assignment from English 2010's curriculum.

Pretty much knew everything we went over. Nothing seemed like it was a new topic but was very informative.

The exercise I'm sure is helpful in some aspects, but I find many parts of it somewhat remedial. Living in today's world, most young people already know how to access information and use search engines on the internet. Sorry to say, but the excercise was a bunch of busy work and a waste of time.

I had already taken a library science class so I was kind of bored, but I noticed that the people around me learned a lot and the worksheet helped to reenforce that. All in all, I think it was well worth the time.
