Midterm Assignment:  Term Project Practice Draft


INSTRUCTIONS:

     This will be a practice assignment to help you measure your understanding
of the term project and to identify and correct any associated problem areas
early.  There will be 30 bonus points awarded, however, to each student who
completes ALL of the assigned items specified in section 2 below.  The goal is
to help you produce a research bibliography (term project) of the highest
quality.
     This will be a mini version of the term project.  Therefore, please follow the
specifications given in handout 2.  The only difference between this assignment
and the term project is that here only four entries are required whereas the term
project requires 14.

1.  The following resources will be useful in completing this assignment:

     Handouts 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7
     Student Example (see the link at the end of the Web syllabus)

2.  The assignment consists of the following items:

     A preface, on its own separate page (see handout 3), with your name at the
        top of the page
     Two book citations, each with an annotation
     Two Internet citations, each with an annotation
     A bib card for each citation (see handouts 1, 6)
     A note card for each annotation (see handouts 1, 7)

3.  Follow the guidelines of handout 2, paying particular attention to the following:

     a) Preface
     b) Annotations
     c) Cards
     d) Organization and Layout

4.  Please hand in your assignment in a folder with a pocket.
     (This folder can also be used to submit your term project)
     Place your cards in the folder pocket.

5.  This assignment will be due on Monday, October 21

     NOTE:  Assignments submitted after this due date will not receive the 30 bonus
                    points nor the benefit of the instructor's feedback on your work.
