Assignment 7:  GOVERNMENT PUBLICATIONS Name                                                                                           OBJECTIVES: 1- Locate a relevant Federal government publication by each of three methods 2- Identify  Federal government agencies that publish information on your topic 3- Locate a relevant state document 4- Locate a relevant international document PART I: Finding Federal Publications 1. Thoroughly examine a copy of the List of Classes... (available in the Government     Publications stacks at GP 3.24:).  Suppose you are using it to browse our U.S.     Government Publications Collection in our library.  Use the List of Classes to     answer the following:     a)  Give the name of the agency you feel would provide the most relevant information on           your topic.                                                                                                                                            b)  Give the SuDoc classification number of one relevant publication listed under that           agency's name.                                                                                        c)  Give the name/title of the above publication.                                                                                                                                             CAUTION:  For questions 2 and 3, in order to get credit, make sure the document is      published by an agency of the U.S. Federal Government.      2. Use the library home page links to locate one actual U.S. federal publication which is     related to your topic.     a)  Attach a bib card for this publication.     b)  Attach a print of the first page of the actual document (do not attach the citation          or record). 3. Use the Google search engine to find a U.S. federal document related to your topic.     Attach a print of the first page of this document  NOTE:  In parts II and III, notice the word "preferably".  This means that if you are                unable to find a document related to your topic, you are free to find one on                any topic, but you will be further ahead if you CAN find one you could                 include in your term project. PART II:  Finding State Publications 1. Using one of the state sites shown on handout 12, locate one Utah state      government publication preferably related to your topic, and attach a print      of the first page of that publication. 2. Using the Findlaw database or the University of Michigan database listed     under "State Publications" on handout 12, locate a state law or any other state     document preferably related to your topic from any state EXCEPT UTAH,     and attach a print of the first page of this document.     Name of the state                                               PART III:  Finding International Publications Using one of the international Web sites stated on handout 12, locate one document  produced by an international agency which is preferably related to your topic, and attach a print of the first page of the document.
