Use AND to narrow your search

  • for example: students AND college

Use OR to broaden your search

  • For example: college OR university

3. Use controlled vocabulary to focus your search

In Academic Search Elite browse in Subjects or use SU Subject in an Advanced Search to focus and limit your search 

In the Stewart Library Catalog use Subject Keyword. This will limit and focus your search using the controlled vocabulary in the Library of Congress Subject Headings

In Google you can use the Web Directory and Categories
