Claudia
Eliason, Associate Professor

Biography:
The
school year 2004-2005
is my eighth year at
Weber State University.
During this time I have
felt incredible professional
growth. It has also been
a privilege to work with
excellent students and
faculty.
Early in my career
following public school teaching and
earning my Master's Degree,
I taught at USU in the
department of Family and Child Development
for seven years. After
my marriage and during
a number of years child rearing,
professional experiences
included preparing new
editions of my early childhood textbook
(I collaborated with a
USU colleague on each of the
seven editions), writing
curriculum for the Utah
State Office of Education,
adjunct work in Child and Family Studies, and many
community and church service
opportunities.
In
1994 I decided to pursue
doctoral studies at Brigham
Young University. Just
before defending my dissertation
in November 1996, I was
invited to teach in Teacher
Education at Weber State
University as a half-time,
non-tenure track instructor.
In 1998 I applied for
and was given a full-
time, tenure-track position
in the Department of
Teacher Education. While
at Weber State University
I have taught 13 different
courses.
I
am married to Dr. Glen
Eliason, a dentist and
we are the parents of
six children. Three are
married. Four of our
six children have graduated
from Weber State University
and one will graduate
Spring of 2005.
